Q&A for Therapists and Coaches
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Eirini, I’m Greek and I’m based in Athens. I’m a Personal & Business Coach and I specialise in empowering individuals and teams to overcome their obstacles, upgrade their mindset and achieve their goals.
How long did your education and training take — and what did your path to this profession look like?
My education started from a more technocratic field, where I studied business administration, finance and banking and I devoted 11 years of my professional life in those areas. However, at some point in my career I realized that I wasn’t getting much joy and satisfaction from my work, my talents and skills were not used to their full potential, and my personal and professional values were not aligned with the current reality. My purpose and professional path led me to coaching, which has become my passion and a significant part of my life over the past five years. The journey of personal and professional learning and development is never-ending, so during the last five years, I have continued to educate myself in various approaches, practices, and tools, like positive psychology, cognitive behaviour practices, mindfulness, growth mindset, purpose methodologies, and corporate coaching.
How would you describe your general approach when working with people?
First of all, I approach each individual in a holistic and person-centered way. From a student to a CEO, whether from a personal or business goal perspective, everyone is struggling with something, afraid of something, and definitely not fully aware of their own strengths and skillset. My coaching style is usually motivational and collaborative, however I can adapt my style depending on what my Client prefers or needs. I focus a lot on improving the individuals’ mindset, as this is key in making great and inspiring progress. I also like using practical and visual tools, as they can trigger the Coachees’ curiosity, creativity and motivation. When working with my Clients, I become their biggest advocate, fully supporting their goals. This support helps them build self-trust and, by taking small, consistent steps, reach their desired outcomes.
Is there a moment with a client (anonymous, of course) that stayed with you?
There are a lot actually. But I will quote a pattern that usually stays with me and every time astonishes me. It’s usually at the end of a partnership or during an aha moment, when many people say “Ι never believed I would make it that far. I was never taught how to support myself, how to trust myself, or how to rely on myself during tough times. If we had learned these things from our families, schools, or society, imagine how different our world might be today”.
What do you do when you're stressed?
Well, after my sessions I usually go to my dance classes, so the movement, the music and my co-dancers make the stress go away. During the dance-free days, I’m having some quality ‘me time’, when I try to pause and self-reflect. Another powerful thing for me is being close to nature, whether it’s swimming, walking, or grounding myself. Of course, trips and excursions are quite popular in my schedule, so whenever I can find some time off, you’ll find me in the mountains, on an island, or in some charming village.
What's one small habit that makes a big difference in your everyday life?
My morning routine I would say. After waking up, I usually do some breathing exercises, I journal, I reflect on what I’m grateful for every day and then I prepare myself a nice breakfast. I like slow mornings, they set the tone for the day.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give for a lighter, happier life?
Let go of what you cannot control, declutter your mind, schedule and physical space and trust yourself enough to believe you can achieve anything you want in life.
What does being part of SupportRoom mean to you?
Βeing part of SupportRoom is being part of a community where we all work together to provide meaningful support and improve the mental health of employees. What I also appreciate is belonging to a very strong team, with competent professionals and inspiring people who genuinely want to make a positive difference in others’ lives.
And now, just for fun:
– Do people assume you can read their minds?
Oh yes, all the time! They don’t just assume it, they confess it. And just between us, sometimes I do. 😊
– Do friends ask for advice even when you’re off the clock?
Absolutely! Sometimes it feels like I never get a break, like I’m working nonstop. I need to embrace work-life balance first!!!
– Have you ever argued with your partner… and later realised they were kind of right? 😄
There have definitely been such moments (though few, of course). However, I’ll admit that it’s something I actually like to happen, because it allows me to re-assess or reframe a situation and helps me become better.
