Q&A for Therapists and Coaches

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi, I’m Tina — a Registered Dietitian with an academic background in psychology and over nine years of experience in the field of nutrition. My work focuses on emotional eating, clinical nutrition, gut health, and sustainable weight management. My approach combines science with empathy, using behavior change techniques to help people build healthier, lasting relationships with food.

Over the years, I’ve supported a wide range of clients — from individuals navigating IBS or emotional triggers around eating, to professionals trying to feel more energized and balanced in their everyday lives. One highlight of my journey was designing the nutrition protocol focused on menopause. This project expanded my insight into hormonal and metabolic changes and reinforced the importance of tailored, evidence-based care. I’m currently based in Greece but work globally, offering flexible, personal support rooted in real-life results. My mission is simple: to make nutrition science practical, personal, and empowering.

How long did your education and training take — and what did your path to this profession look like?

My journey into the world of nutrition started with a deep curiosity about the mind-body connection. I initially studied Psychology at the University of Greenwich in the UK, but it didn’t take long before my fascination with how food impacts both physical and mental health led me down a new path. That passion inspired me to pursue a four-year BSc in Dietetics at Queen Margaret University, where I laid the scientific and clinical foundations of my career.

Since then, my commitment to continuous learning has shaped everything I do. I completed a Diploma in Clinical Nutrition through ESPEN, specialized in IBS management with Low FODMAP certification, and took part in multiple advanced trainings in behavior change, motivational interviewing, and coaching psychology. These tools now form the backbone of my client-centered approach — blending science, empathy, and strategy to support meaningful, lasting change.

How would you describe your general approach when working with people?

Compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in science.
I don’t believe in rigid rules — I believe in understanding your story. I use tools like motivational interviewing and coaching psychology to help you make changes that actually last. My style is all about listening deeply, educating clearly, and walking beside you, not ahead of you.

Is there a moment with a client (anonymous, of course) that stayed with you?

Yes — and it’s one I’ll never forget. I worked with a woman who had been struggling with emotional eating and IBS for years. Beyond the physical discomfort, what really affected her was the anxiety it created: she experienced panic attacks every time a symptom appeared. Eventually, she began avoiding travel, social events, and even busy places, afraid of what her body might do.

Together, we didn’t just focus on food — we worked on the emotional relationship she had with her symptoms. Through a combination of personalized nutrition (including the Low FODMAP protocol), behavior change coaching, and emotional support, she gradually began to feel safer in her body.

Months later, she messaged me from the airport. Not only had she traveled again — she had enjoyed a beautiful dinner out the night before, guilt- and symptom-free. That moment captured everything I believe in: healing is possible, and it’s about so much more than just the food on your plate.

What do you do when you're stressed?

When I feel stressed, I turn to movement — usually long walks while listening to music or a good workout to help release tension and reset my mind. I find that combining physical activity with rhythm really helps me reconnect and stay grounded.

What's one small habit that makes a big difference in your everyday life?

Walking. It might sound simple, but it’s my non-negotiable daily habit. I walk everywhere — whether it’s to clear my head, manage stress, or just sneak in some movement on busy days. It’s my way of staying connected to my body, finding a bit of calm, and fitting in exercise without overthinking it.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give for a lighter, happier life?

Don’t chase perfection. Chase connection — with your body, your plate, and your purpose.

What does being part of SupportRoom mean to you?

Being part of SupportRoom means being part of a platform that truly cares about making a difference. And now, just for fun:

Do people assume you can read their minds?
Only when they open the fridge and ask, “What should I eat?” 😄

Do friends ask for advice even when you’re off the clock?
Constantly! Group chats = unofficial nutrition clinics.

Have you ever argued with your partner… and later realised they were kind of right?
I’ll admit it… yes. But only once a week — max. 😉
