Online Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy

Who Is Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy Effective For?

Our online Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is effective for:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Substance abuse or misuse
  • Trauma
  • Psychosis
  • OCD
  • Chronic Pain
  • Anorexia

What is Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy?

One of the particular benefits of DIT is its simplicity. It’s a time-limited programme of 16 sessions and an arm of psychodynamic therapy.

When we experience something painful or difficult in our lives, we often aim to ignore it. We become adept at ignoring the problem to the extent that we possibly lose sight of it altogether.

However, the problem remains – buried – and persists in affecting your behaviour – even years later.

DIT provides a safe environment to openly discuss the problem while analysing the hurt from the past that may be impacting upon your present. The process explores our relationships and how we can improve the way we deal with them, leading to an improvement in the psychological symptoms that prompted the therapy in the first place.

How does DIT work?

You’ll attend weekly sessions for around three or four months, during which you’ll reflect upon your feelings and thoughts; recognising how they’re linked to earlier life experiences.

The initial sessions will explore the nature of your relationships, uncovering patterns in the way you interact with others. These exploratory sessions provide insight into what is going wrong and why.

Later sessions work by aiming to implement positive changes, equipping you to handle your future relationships.

Does DIT really work?

DIT is recommended by The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence for people for whom CBT hasn’t worked or people who want to see results over a brief period.
