1. Our Commitment
SupportRoom is committed to conducting its business responsibly and to minimising the environmental impact associated with its operations.
As a wellbeing and professional services provider, our services are mainly delivered digitally, complemented by onsite support where required by our clients. Our operating model therefore has a relatively limited direct environmental footprint compared with businesses involved in manufacturing, production or other emissions intensive activities.
Nevertheless, we recognise that our activities, including technology use, business travel, onsite service delivery, procurement, energy consumption and waste, can have an environmental impact. We are committed to managing these impacts responsibly and continuously improving our environmental practices as our business develops.
2. Our Environmental Principles
SupportRoom seeks to integrate environmental considerations into its day to day operations and business decisions. Our approach focuses on:
- Digital first service delivery: We prioritise digital delivery of services, meetings, documentation and communications where appropriate, while continuing to provide onsite services when required.
- Responsible travel: We seek to minimise unnecessary business travel and use remote collaboration where this can effectively meet business and client needs. Where onsite delivery is required, we aim to plan travel efficiently.
- Reduced paper consumption: We encourage electronic documentation, digital communications and digital processes to reduce unnecessary printing and paper consumption.
- Responsible use of resources: We encourage employees and those working on our behalf to use energy, equipment and other resources responsibly and avoid unnecessary consumption.
- Waste reduction: We aim to minimise waste generated through our operations and encourage reuse, recycling and responsible disposal where appropriate and facilities are available.
- Responsible procurement: Where practical and proportionate, environmental considerations may be taken into account when selecting products, services and suppliers.
- Technology and infrastructure: As a technology enabled business, we recognise the environmental impact associated with digital infrastructure and seek to use technology and service providers efficiently and responsibly.
3. Greenhouse Gas Emissions
SupportRoom recognises the importance of addressing greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
Given the mainly digital nature and current scale of our operations, we have not yet established formal quantitative greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets or a comprehensive emissions baseline.
As the organisation develops, we are committed to reviewing our operational environmental footprint and assessing appropriate methods for measuring relevant emissions. This will enable us to consider meaningful and proportionate emissions reduction objectives based on reliable information rather than unverified estimates.
In the meantime, we seek to limit emissions through digital first working practices, responsible resource consumption, remote collaboration where appropriate and efficient planning of onsite service delivery and business travel.
4. Onsite Service Delivery
While our services are mainly delivered digitally, SupportRoom also provides onsite wellbeing and professional support where required.
We recognise that onsite delivery may result in environmental impacts, particularly through transportation and resource use. Where reasonably practicable, we seek to coordinate onsite activities efficiently, reduce unnecessary travel and use digital alternatives for activities that do not require physical attendance.
5. Environmental Compliance
SupportRoom is committed to complying with applicable environmental laws, regulations and other environmental requirements relevant to our operations in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
We will review our environmental practices as appropriate to ensure they remain proportionate to the nature, scale and environmental impact of our activities.
6. Employee Responsibility
Environmental responsibility is a shared commitment.
We encourage employees, contractors and others working on behalf of SupportRoom to support environmentally responsible practices, including reducing unnecessary resource consumption, limiting waste, using digital alternatives where appropriate and considering environmental impact when making relevant business decisions.
7. Continuous Improvement
SupportRoom recognises that environmental responsibility is an evolving area and that our approach should develop alongside our organisation.
We are committed to periodically reviewing our environmental impact and identifying reasonable opportunities to improve our environmental performance.
As our operations grow, this may include establishing an environmental baseline, introducing measurable environmental objectives, strengthening environmental considerations within procurement and assessing appropriate greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.
8. Governance and Review
Management is responsible for overseeing this policy and supporting its implementation across the organisation.
This policy will be reviewed at least annually, as well as when significant changes to our operations, environmental impacts or applicable requirements make an earlier review appropriate.
