Q&A for Therapists and Coaches
Tell us a bit about yourself.
Based in the UK, the city of Birmingham where I work at the Clinic of Psychiatry. Specialized in Clinical Psychology.
How long did your education and training take — and what did your path to this profession look like?
After graduating Psychology, I started doing my Postgraduate studies in Clinical Psychology. I have been granted a scholarship to continue my studies in Berlin, Germany. That experience had a great influence on me throughout various seminars, presentations and cooperation with the professors.
How would you describe your general approach when working with people?
What I am focusing on in my general approach would be related to clients unique experience, emotions and thoughts. Empathy and active listening would be essential and it can help me to deliver a high quality care.
Is there a moment with a client (anonymous, of course) that stayed with you?
Every client has a story to tell, every problem-solution should be tailored towards client’s needs. Exploring and processing emotions would be a key to a positive outcome. Starting psychotherapeutic session is a journey where healthier coping mechanisms represent a bridge where a client should go on from one side to another safely.
What do you do when you're stressed?
Taking long walks is what I have found helpful. Thinking about stressful situation and observing from different angles gaining an insight of what might be changed or fixed. Reading comic books helps me to get my mind off a situation too. Talking to people that can cheer me up.
What's one small habit that makes a big difference in your everyday life?
That must be spending some time alone, at least an hour if not longer than that. :)
What’s one piece of advice you’d give for a lighter, happier life?
Take some time, make a distance, cool your head off.
What does being part of SupportRoom mean to you?
What I genuinely like about SupportRoom is being able to provide help in various ways (video call, textual…) and dedicate myself to the ultimate goal, and that would be: ,,I am here and set to help”.
And now, just for fun:
- Do people assume you can read their minds?
Absolutely yes 😊 I can often hear comments like: ,,You probably know why I am here”. Sometimes yes, I am giving my best to keep my professional dedication away from being just a friend. - Do friends ask for advice even when you’re off the clock?
Must admit, yes. 😊 I have been married for 2.5 years and just like everyone’s else relationship, had ups and downs. Trying to be positive and pronounce ,,sorry” when it’s needed 😊
