Can I change therapist?

Because we want you to experience the full therapeutic benefit, we ask you to give your current therapist a chance as it may take some time to get to know him or her. But occasionally, it can happen that someone feels their therapist is not a good fit and we want to make sure that you get the best possible care. Clients can change their therapist twice per month.

Will I choose my therapist myself?

Our unique matching process is what makes SupportRoom such a successful platform for our users. You’ll complete a questionnaire after you’ve signed up that helps us understand your needs; we use this questionnaire to find the most appropriate therapist for you. We’re careful to find the best match – it’s different from merely picking someone out of a directory. We understand that the client-therapist relationship is significant, so this matching process is a service we are proud to provide at SupportRoom. Your therapist is dedicated to you.

Which conditions can SupportRoom help with?

SupportRoom’s therapists are professionals, with years of experience in a range of therapeutic approaches. Mindfulness – How can we help?

The SupportRoom platform offers more than just mind therapy. There are mindfulness appointments to be made after initial sign-up. Use the in-app journal to write down any and all thoughts and experiences. Communication with your counsellor is possible via SMS, video messages and voice notes, all in-app! Almost as if you're having a chat with your therapist from the comfort of your home.

What is IPT good for?

Interpersonal therapy is commonly used to treat mood disorders. Just as DIT, IPT can treat relationships issues, but it's also effective to treat issues around social functioning and reduce distress.

Is IPT Therapy effective for depression?

Depending on the type of depression *one could experience would determine whether IPT is effective enough. Commonly, IPT is for mild cases of depression that could have been caused or triggered by relationship factors.

How does IPT help with eating disorders?

As IPT is an evidence-based therapy, it has been practical for mood disorders, including eating disorders. This type of therapy addresses unhealthy habits in relation to personal relationships. IPT is less directive. Instead of focusing on the disorder, this particular therapy focuses on other aspects of life.
